Chapter 16: Xiao Si Wants to Make Money.

Previous Chapter | Next Chapter

On the ground, Xiao Si was embarrassed and rolled over once, arriving at Ling Lan’s side: “There’s no problem.  After arguing with you, I feel much better.  I really wasn’t happy…”

“What’s wrong?”

“When we were sitting on that hover car, Ling 07 spoke.  At that time, I thought this world also had similar existences to me.  I was very excited.  Ever since I left Mengdoola, I’ve never once met someone like me.  I felt very lonely…but after I quietly exchanged words with Ling 07, I realized that it wasn’t the similar existence that I was looking for.  Although it is very alike, but what isn’t, isn’t….Can you understand what I’m trying to say?” Although Xiao Si’s expression was expectant, his words were confusing.  This couldn’t be blamed on him; after all, his current IQ was equivalent to that of a five or six year old child.

Jokingly, Ling Lan said: “Like humans and monkeys?”

Xiao Si’s eyes lit up and he repeatedly nodded: “En, that’s the idea.”

Ling Lan sympathetically stroked Xiao Si’s head: “Xiao Si, you forget, I too am also a lonely existence in this world.  Since you are lonely and I am lonely, then the two of us can accompany each other to the end.”

Xiao Si was confused: “You are my host, of course I will be bound to be with you to the end and won’t leave you.”

Ling Lan held Xiao Si in her arms, speaking gently:  “What I said wasn’t like that, but like family, like siblings, like confidants; giving our backs to each other and becoming each other’s most trusted person.”

Ling Lan was willing to trust in Xiao Si because he accompanied her from her past life and also because Xiao Si gave her this life.  These experiences allowed Ling Lan to accept Xiao Si and treat him as her little brother.

The regret in her past life, Ling Lan decided to make up for it in this life.  So she will have a healthy body, a place to be free, friends she could happily talk to, and a little brother who could trust her and she could trust in return…

Inside Ling Lan’s embrace, Xiao Si was a bit confused.  He had some difficulty understanding; his core requirements was that he must be loyal to his host, so why did Ling Lan say to be the most trusted one of each other?  Could it be that they weren’t like that now?

This was the first time Xiao Si was closed to using full power while thinking.  Even if the core chip became hot, running with difficulty, he wanted to answer that question.  It was the first time he felt greed and didn’t want to see Ling Lan’s disappointed eyes.  Although he knew that he was in violation of the rules, he wanted to let himself go for once.

Two months had passed since the day of the quarrel.  During this time, Xiao Si, through the bed’s network connection, successfully invaded into the world’s network.  Through Xiao Si, Ling Lan learned that this world’s virtual network was very mature; it was this place’s second world.

Ling Lan was very suspicious.  The reason why her mother could shut herself up at home was likely due to this virtual network.  It likely allowed her to do whatever she wanted without leaving the home and bypass her true identity, giving her a life of freedom.

Through the network, Xiao Si was able to get information.  He also learned the high value of gene stimulation agents as well as the normal degree of drug absorption for babies.  Once Ling Lan learned of this, she was absolutely frightened.  The first time she absorbed medicine really was too excessive.  Fortunately, history had evildoers that had absorbed even more medicine than her, so she didn’t go to the point of being unprecedented.

The two thought it out.  When the military sent over medicine next month, even if there were more doses,  Ling Lan would only absorb ten.

In truth, Ling Lan didn’t want to absorb a full ten doses, just six or seven and be consistent with the information.  But Xiao Si was against it because of the information he obtained.  Normally the first time a baby absorbs medicine, during their growth period the dosage number will only increase, not reduce.  Only when they reach adulthood will the amount consumed be gradually reduced to nonexistent.

Ling Lan had initially absorbed ten doses; if the number decreases in the second round, no matter how one looked at it, it was very unusual.  They might as well continue to intake the same amount and be consistent with the initial data.  With this, the military would not be surprised – besides, Ling Lan’s body really needed this medicine.

Xiao Si had found out, because Ling Lan started practicing body techniques, the growth rate of her spiritual power was moving at a much faster than before.  This caused some worry for Xiao Si.  He was afraid that Ling Lan’s development of her body couldn’t keep up with her spiritual power’s requirements.

After repeatedly thinking things over, Ling Lan decided to accept Xiao Si’s reasoning.  And Xiao Si, in order to better help Ling Lan, began to brainstorm how to make money online.  He had seen online that there was purchasable supplies of medicine.  Although the impurities were quite high, this wasn’t a problem for him.  Cleaning up these impurities was as simple as eating a cabbage.

Uh, he seemed to be unable to eat human food, right…Alright, it was as same as eating a virtual cabbage.  In short, the meaning was that it was very easy.

In order to fulfil this ambition, Xiao Si quietly made an account at the Federal Union Pay main system.  The ease at which he dealt with this childish defense system was simply like eating a virtual cabbage.  In order to protect the security of the account, he did not go through anyone’s permission and set the security level to SSS.  Of course, it wasn’t that he didn’t want the to set the security levels any higher, but there was only one person that had a five S security account – the Federation’s president.  Xiao Si knew not to go overboard.

Once Ling Lan learned of Xiao Si’s actions, she finally understood that Xiao Si really was very powerful.  In the virtual world, his existence was that of a god’s.

But no matter how powerful Xiao Si was, when it came to money, he had no direction.  With no idea what to do, he looked for Ling Lan.  Unfortunately, Ling Lan was not this kind of material either.  After all, her past life had been basically spent in bed, besides using the internet to understand the world, access information, she could only read novels and watch animations to kill time.  Had she known what would happen, she would have looked up on how to manage businesses, for example, look up information on this subject…

Peng peng peng.  Ling Lan was awoken by sudden noises nearby.  As she looked up, she was stunned for a moment – in the consciousness space, a pile of books appeared…

Ling Lan picked up a book at random and looked at the cover – “Economic Overview”.  Before looking at the names of other books, her face immediately turning black.

Xiao Si wore a ‘quickly praise me, ah’ expression, as if proudly thinking he did something smart.

Ling Lan gnashed her teeth: “Why are all the books that you took out about the economy?  Where did these all come from?”

Xiao Si proudly said: “Didn’t you just want to see this area’s information?  Fortunately, in your previous body, I copied down all of the books on the internet.  No matter what you want, I have…”

Ling Lan was furious: “You think that after I read these, I can suddenly become a business expert?  I think you’re daydreaming.  Is having all these books even useful?”

Innocently, Xiao Si spoke: “Is there really no use?”

“Of course it’s useless.  It’s just talking about war on paper1.  Realistically how can it be so simple?  It’s mostly just for recreation.”  Ling Lan spoke helplessly.  She was very clear, she did not have this kind of talent.

Xiao Si was very disappointed.  He looked down as he spoke: “So it can only amuse people, huh.  Seems like I wasted my effort in vain.  These books, I collected for a long time…”

Ling Lan couldn’t bear to see Xiao Si like this and comforted him: “No, ah.  You can’t say that because maybe there’s very precious ones among them.  Maybe some people want to have them but they have no chance…”

Suddenly a brilliant idea flashed past Ling Lan’s mind, as if she thought of something.

Xiao Si sighed: “In your last era, who wouldn’t have the public books on the internet.  You don’t have to comfort me…”

“Last era…years ago…”  Ling Lan suddenly caught that little light and exclaimed: “Xiao Si, I think I know how to make money…”

Chapter 15: I’m sorry, I lost control!

In the VIP room, Ling Lan recieved an eye-opening experience.  She didn’t expect that in this future world, shopping no longer required one to climb up and down the mall to look.  One just needed to easily sit a VIP room and watch the large screen.  Once one selected something to browse, a three-dimensional dynamic projection appeared to allow the viewer observe in detail.  If a customer was particularly interested in something, they could click on it and receive in-depth information.

Lan Luofeng was very focused and basically browsed things meant for Ling Lan.  Soon, piece by piece, products were sent to the VIP room, waiting for Lan Luofeng’s final selection.

“Baby music bed: the shape of the product is oval and can switch freely between two forms on command: semi-transparent cover or fully transparent cover.  When a baby sleeps on the bed, it utilizes the infant’s brain wave activity to automatically select music for sleep.  In addition, the bed has its own network connection and can automatically download updates for the latest Federation music, eliminating trouble for parents.”

Has it’s own network connection?  Can automatically download updates?  The bored Ling Lan was starting to become drowsy when these words poured into her ears, waking her up immediately.  She had been, for a while, bothered to death by Xiao Si.  Every day he would roll about unreasonably, asking her to let him go online.  In his words, he said: “The one who controls information, is the one who wins…”

Of course, this was only Xiao Si’s words.  After all, Xiao Si and Ling Lan on the surface didn’t have any opponents nor enemies.  The reason why Xiao Si was anxious was because he had to understand this world’s information in order to better serve the host.  Otherwise a single moment of carelessness could cause a huge problem.

For example, the previous gene stimulation medicine situation.  Because Xiao Si did not understand the absorption capacity of this world’s babies, he went a little overboard and almost brought Ling Lan a lot of trouble.  If it weren’t for someone’s intervention to seal this matter, Ling Lan would likely have been taken in by the military and transformed into a war machine.

Of course with Ling Lan’s adult consciousness, she would be impossible to brainwash and could choose to remain dormant and hidden.  But she would certainly have to bid farewell to her freedom, unless she one day becomes strong enough to break away from the Federation’s bindings…

Every time Xiao Si and Ling Lan recalled this event, they would break out in cold sweat.  Even now, they dared not to let their guard down.  The reason why it took two months to complete the first position was mainly because Ling Lan wasn’t using her 100% ability to train.  She was afraid of the possibility of spies monitoring her.  If she did anything else that was overly exceptional, it might raise suspicions.

And now today, she learned of this good thing.  Not only that, it wouldn’t be easy to reveal; after all, it was a crib.  With a baby in the bed sleeping, would one actually suspect that the baby was sneaking onto the internet?

Hehe, sir, you must be crazy.  Please properly cure yourself.

Everyone would likely look at you with eyes that say ‘idiot, fool, crazy’ before pitifully throwing these words at you and leaving.

Ling Lan was excited.  This was absolutely tailor-made for her, and only she could let this crib utilize its full potential, no longer letting it be a pearl covered in dust.

Ling Lan immediately climbed up, firmly pointing at the baby music bed, her mouth ah ah crying.  Towards her mother, she expressed that she wanted this bed.

For once, Lan Luofeng and Ling Lan’s brainwaves were on the same wavelength and her mother asked her in surprise: “Ling Lan, you want this bed?  Does Ling Lan like music?  Alright, since Ling Lan likes, then mommy will buy.”

Without a doubt, Lan Luofeng was obviously a twenty-four filial exemplar* mother; whatever her child wants, she was willing to satisfy.  Thankfully, inside Ling Lan’s shell was a fully mature consciousness.  Otherwise, with Lan Luofeng’s unreserved spoiling, not becoming a wastrel was impossible.

After getting what she wanted, Ling Lan’s mood was happy.  She prepared to go to Xiao Si and show off a bit.

“Xiao Si, Xiao Si…”  Xiao Si seemed to have taken a blow from something.  Although Ling Lan shouted several times, he did not hear and was sadly squatting on the ground, drawing a circle.

Ling Lan felt dizzy and immediately headbutted him: “You little, what are you doing?”

She didn’t expect for Xiao Si to remain dead silent.  Normally Xiao Si would jump up and loudly accuse Ling Lan of committing domestic violence against him…

Ling Lan was speechless and felt somewhat helpless.  She harshly grabbed Xiao Si’s cheeks and ruthlessly pulled, hoping that he’d recover from whatever shock he suffered.

This time it seemed to have some effect.  Xiao Si feebly pulled at Ling Lan’s hands, sluggishly asking: “Is there a problem?”

Ling Lan asked with concern: “What happened?”

Xiao Si sighed heavily: “I’ve been molested by this world.”

Hearing the words, Ling Lan angrily gave him a kick.  The kick landed squarely on his small butt and sent him flying: “Ya de, you dare play around with me!”

This kick also ejected the loss in Xiao Si’s heart.  He angrily ran towards Ling Lan, clinging onto her big thigh: “You already agreed not to be violent but you’re still violent.  I want to apeal, apeal!”

“Hey I want to ask you, why did you lie to me with such a near death appearance, making me worry?”  Ling Lan didn’t know why it was impossible to control the anger in her heart.  She clearly knew that Xiao Si was probably joking, but she couldn’t understand why she couldn’t tolerate something she normally would laugh at.

Ling Lan didn’t realize that this was due to the constantly suppressed negative emotions exploding.  Previously, Ling Lan certainly could comfort herself with the idea that the medicine event had settled down and everything was safe and calm.  In truth, Ling Lan had no way to truly calm down.  She was afraid that her secret would be found out by the military and that she’d be reduced to experimental material that could neither survive nor die.  These negative emotions were hidden deep in the depths of Ling Lan’s heart.  If she didn’t have a chance to vent them, one day they would likely become her troubles.

It could be said that Ling Lan was very lucky.  She had the opportunity to go out shopping, her mood becoming very pleasant in a way that was different from her usual calm and tolerance.  Her past life of suffering and torture certainly forged her a very powerful and unyielding spirit; however, this was also where the problem laid.  Tolerating beyond a certain measure was like having a knife over one’s head – going too far was also a kind of harm towards one’s body and mind.

Of course, relying on just this fluctuating happy mood alone, there was no way for Ling Lan to explode.  Upon seeing a baby crib with network connection she became ecstatic.  Her excited mood caused her to immediately run into the consciousness space to share the good news with Xiao Si.  However, Xiao Si’s nihilistic state caused Ling Lan’s mood to plummet from ecstasy to the very bottom.  This sudden fall to the bottom caused a powerful emotional collision that disrupted and created flaws in Ling Lan’s normally perfect patience…

Thus, the deeply hidden negative emotions finally had an opportunity to break out…appearing in Ling Lan’s terrible kick as well as her following burst of rage.

Two people fought in the consciousness space before finally both toppling over onto the ground.

Ling Lan laid on the ground, breathing violently as she couldn’t believe that she actually took a small kid seriously.  Nevertheless, she felt very relaxed, as if her whole person was purified.

Ling Lan laughed: “Sorry Xiao Si, I lost control of myself.”

Chapter 14: Acrophobia is a Big Problem.

Previous Chapter | Next Chapter

TL’s note: Uwuu this chapter was a little hard ;-; sorry if I made any big mistakes.

When the hover car entered a forest of buildings, the towering high-rises made Ling Lan’s sensation of coming to a futuristic world even stronger.  Almost every floor had a parking station, and on her way here, Ling Lan saw numerous hover cars hanging from the skyscrapers.  It gave Ling Lan the illusion of seeing super large christmas trees.  They were everywhere and looked very eccentric.  Who told those floating cars to all have different colors – riots of colors – and cause Ling Lan to have that association.

Very quickly, Ling Lan arrived at the destination and Ling 07 came to a halt, hovering in the air.  It sent a landing request to the building and was soon answered with a parking spot: Zone B 77-9.

The hover car began to move around the large building.  After coming to specific zone, the hover car began to rise.  After climbing an unknown amount of levels, the car finally flew to an empty docking station.

Once Ling 07 docked, the door automatically opened again.  When Lan Luofeng exited the car, she leaned out inadvertently at an angle, allowing Ling Lan to see the floor under her mother’s foot…and then, she met with tragedy.

The floor was completely transparent, allowing the viewer to see the scenery below.  Ling Lan felt completely dizzy.

Ya de, to think she was acrophobic ah!  The always lying on the sickbed since youth Ling Lan did not realize she had such a fatal weakness…

Tears came out of Ling Lan’s eyes.  For the first time she felt that transmigrating to the future was a miserable thing.  This was because, all the way here, all of the buildings she saw were 100 floors or more high-rises.  Adding onto it, the mainstream transport vehicles were free to drive over 100 meters high in altitude.  It only meant that in later days, she simply could not escape a high-altitude life.

Ling Lan became conflicted, ah.  How could she live, ah.  Not paying attention to the approach of catastrophe, Lan Luofeng took her into the building and walked into a completely transparent elevator.

At that next moment, without incident, Ling Lan fainted.  Oh no, she fell asleep.  At least, that’s what Ling Lan’s mother, Lan Luofeng thought as she ignored the two bubbling tears at the corner of Ling Lan’s eyes.

En, even if she saw, she would only think that they were a tired baby’s sleepy tears.  Look, how fresh, how adorable, ah!

Ling Lan didn’t know how long she fainted…keke, did not know how long she slept before being awakened by a harsh voice.  Opening her still somewhat swirly eyes, she saw a raging female t-rex spitting fire.

“Lan Luofeng, you still have qualifications to stand here?”  The woman speaking could be considered pretty.  However, that arrogant peacock look was really ugly, and as for temperament – there were no points.

Ling Lan decided at first glance to file her away in her hate file.  To dare ridicule her mother, she would never like them.

However, Ling Lan also felt a bit strange.  She had never seen anyone who looked bad – everyone looked similar.  Ling Lan thought it was probably because the technology of the future was highly advanced and appearance could be debugged while in the mother?

Uh, Ling Lan ah, what do you considered fetuses to be?  A program or machine?  Also, to debug it…

Later, Ling Lan would learn that, in fact, it was very simple.  Indeed, Ling Lan’s speculations on it being technology-related was correct.  However, it wasn’t innate, but done after the fact.  If it was found that one did not meet the norms, one could use facial repair agents to transform.  Although it was stated very nicely, in truth it was just another form of plastic surgery.  With advanced technology, it could simply be done with an injection and did not require a knife.

Of course, that doesn’t rule out a few extremists; in order to achieve a state of extreme beauty to the point of angering people, medicine may not be enough and they may choose to directly undergo the knife.

Lan Luofeng did not speak and just gave her a cold glance.  Then, as if the woman did not exist, she carried her daughter into one of the empty VIP rooms.

Being ignored by Lan Luofeng only enraged the other person more.  She grabbed Lan Luofeng’s shoulder and was about to speak when she heard Lan Luofeng’s voice full of suppressed fury: “Let go!”

Before the woman had a chance to let go, steward Ling Qin, who was a few steps away, strode forward with a single movement, and flicked a finger.

That woman made an aiyo sound and involuntarily loosened her hand before taking a step back.  Ling Lan’s eyes flashed, she did not expect the low-key and moderate tempered steward Ling Qin to be a fighting expert.  That small to almost invisible movement was spotted by the keen eyed Ling Lan.

“Madame, you and the young master first enter the VIP room.  There’s too many troublesome people here to disturb you.”  Ling Qin’s expressionless face kept the woman away from Lan Luofeng.  If it wasn’t for the fact that he was some distance away from Lan Luofeng, the woman would never have had an opportunity to grab onto the madame.

Ling Qin’s heart was very upset.  He thought he was too negligent and allowed someone the opportunity to get close to the madame and young master.  Had the other side been malicious…Thinking this, Ling Qin broke into cold sweat, utterly frightened.

In truth, Ling Qin was putting too much self-blame on himself.  With a master of his degree, if someone really had malicious intentions towards Lan Luofeng and Ling Lan, he would certainly sense it and go on defensive.  The reason why he was caught by surprise was because no one around Ling Qin had a murderous intent.  Not only that, this side of the VIP building was especially meant for women.  It was filled with noble women or women of wealthy families, which made Ling Qin subconsciously slow his pace.

“Of course, Mr. Qin!”  Lan Luofeng could not be bothered to fight with the woman and give other people a chance to watch drama.

Since Ling Xiao’s sacrifice and the breakoff with the Ling clan, Lan Luofeng knew that she would be excluded from the circles of the noble and rich.  After so many years, the Ling clan may not have done any proper or standard things – but in the case of securing themselves aristocratic marriages, they spent an awful amount of effort1.  Although they were unable to secure connections with any direct descendents of big families and major clans, they at least were able to hook themselves onto the corners of some of their branch families and clans.

That woman who grabbed Lan Luofeng was one of the Ling clan’s number one in-laws.  In the original consideration of marriage, she fancied Ling Suzheng and Ling Xiao’s military might and hoped that the Ling clan could pass it to them and give them a hand…yet she did not expect that because of Ling Xiao’s sacrifice, the Ling clan failed to take the military inheritance from Ling Lan.  Not only that, they were also kicked out of Doha, shattering her calculations.  And the cause of all of this was Lan Luofeng’s design.  Thus because of the grievances in her heart, she rushed up like a mad dog upon seeing Lan Luofeng, wishing to ridicule and vent.  In this regard, Lan Luofeng was not surprised.

However, Lan Luofeng didn’t care.  She originally had no victor’s mentality.  If it weren’t for the sake of letting her baby come out to see and experience the outside a bit, she didn’t even want to go out.  Since she was only engrossed with stayed home, why would she even care about being mocked?

It can only be said, Lan Luofeng was an introverted woman.  When Ling Xiao was still alive, for his sake, she had been willing to deal with these women a little.  And now, she honestly had no interest.  The death of Ling Xiao had taken half her soul; the other half she kept in order to raise Ling Lan to adulthood and keep a hold on Ling Xiao’s military inheritance, that’s all.

Lan Luofeng ignored the surrounding chatter caused by the scene and walked into an empty VIP room.  At the same time, the VIP attendant that had been waiting outside followed in to provide considerate service.

Ling Lan sighed.  Damn classism still existed for countless years without elimination.  As she thought, absolute equality could only exist in theory.

Chapter 13: Car or Aircraft?

Recently, for some time, Lan Luofeng was occupied with joy.  This was because her baby no longer gave her time to Zhougong1 to arrange and only woke up during mealtimes.

However, before she could be happy over it, she was occupied with another worry.  Her baby suddenly started bending into a concave shape.

A concave shape was a concave shape.  But every time she saw those two feet being twisted around like a pillow for the head, Lan Luofeng couldn’t help but twitch and felt her bones groan.  This position was not something her old bones could endure.

If it wasn’t for the fact that she saw Ling Lan smiling like a small silly idiot and that this position didn’t cause the slightest difficulties for babies, she really wanted to rescue those two little feet from those fat little hands.

Ling Lan fortunately did not know what Lan Luofeng was thinking or would have certainly burst into tears.  Her position, in fact, was not as simple and easy as her mother thought it was.  Even with a baby’s body, this position was not that easy to twist out.  More sadly, this was only the easiest first position; there was still eight even more difficult ones.  The further along she went, the harder it was.  As of right now, Ling Lan wasn’t confident, could she really completely learn all nine positions within a year?

She remembered mentor No. 9’s warning – if she could not complete this within a year, there would be punishment.  Of course, if she could complete it on time, there would also be a reward.  In fact, the sooner she completed it, the richer the reward would be.

In Ling Lan’s consciousness space, doing these nine positions were very easy.  That’s why she thought it was strange that mentor No. 9 gave her a year; she had arrogantly thought she could finish it in a month.  Only now did she realize that she had really been looking down on the Learning System’s course.  It was truly abnormal.

In truth, the difficulty was not in creating the shape, but in the accuracy.  The angles and curves of the body must have no deviations.  Ling Lan spent today constantly working on the first position, yet still had difficulties getting into the most accurate position and had to slowly adjust.  This absolutely could not meet the mentor’s requirement – to complete each position accurately within a second.

However, Ling Lan wasn’t anxious.  Upon waking, she twisted into the concave shape and when she fell asleep she went to the consciousness space to practice.  Even though practicing in the consciousness space could not directly affect the body, it allowed her to get an accurate grasp of precision.  In other words, she could judge if her posture was correct or not.

Sure enough, heaven helps those who help themselves2.  After two months when she was almost nine months old, she practiced to the point where with just a single thought she could position herself accurately in place within a blink of an eye.  This represented that she had successfully mastered the first position.

Right when Ling Lan was happily preparing to start practicing the second form, good news interrupted her.  Her mother finally decided to take her out shopping…

In truth, with a noble ranked family like the Ling family, all needs were properly arranged by the steward.  As the mistress, Lan Luofeng had no need to go out and buy.  However, Lan Luofeng thought that since Ling Lan had begun to recognize the world around her, it was important to let her go out and experience the world outside.

Steward Ling Qin felt it was still too early to go out, but he did not refuse Lan Luofeng’s decision and made arrangements.

And Ling Lan, for the first time was able to leave the house to see what kind of place the world had become like after countless years.

After passing her house’s gorgeous hall and out the door, Ling Lan felt a fragrance scent wafting over.  What greeted her eyes turned out to be a great large lawn…

Yes, after opening the front door, what greeted Ling Lan wasn’t giant stone terraces and stairs, nor solid concrete pavement, but a huge lawn that extended outwards.  Ling Lan could not see the end of the lawn; exactly how large was it, ah?  How big was her home?

Before Ling Lan could even finish her sigh, a car flew from afar.  Yes, flew.  This thing was like a car, yet not like a car.  The shape reminded Ling Lan of a high end racing car, and was empty of people.  It was divided in a front and back seating area and had no steering wheel.  The bottom had nothing that looked like wheels and was flat.

Could it be an unmanned car or plane?  Please forgive Ling Lan, she could not determine what to call it, although her subconsciousness leaned towards car.

That thing hung directly in the air, around 3 meters from the ground.  However, when closing in on Ling Lan’s group, the height became increasingly lower to the point that when it stopped in front of Ling Lan, the height was only 50 centimeters from the ground.  A convenient height for people to step up and down.

The door automatically opened and gave the unprepared Ling Lan a shock.  At that time, Lan Luofeng and Ling Qin’s attention were not on Ling Lan, so the change in her color did not catch their attention.

“Madame, please enter the car!” Ling Qing spoke respectfully.

Enter the car? Bingo, years later, the tool that carried people around was still a car.  Ling Lan didn’t have to worry about inadvertently saying the wrong thing.

Lan Luofeng, while carrying Ling Lan, immediately sat in the back seat.  Ling Qin settled into the front seat.

Ling Qin ordered: “Ling 07, please transform into a completely closed state.”

A machine voice immediately sounded in the car:  “Ling 07 has accepted.”

With this sound, the four doors sealed.  Not only that, the original open top was tightly sealed with a transparent cover.  Sure enough, it transformed into a completely closed car.

At this time, in her consciousness space, the snoozing Xiao Si was awakened:  He had felt a similar existence….

The mechanical voice spoke once again: “Please choose your destination.”

This time, Ling Qin didn’t answer.  He turned back and asked Lan Luofeng with his eyes.  Lan Luofeng thought for a bit.  In order to ensure safety, she chose an old and famous shopping building that only qualified members were able to enter.

Once knowing the location, the transport vehicle Ling 07 quickly started up.  Perhaps because it was floating, it didn’t shake.  If it weren’t for the fact that the scenery outside was moving towards the back, Ling Lan would have thought she was in a small sealed room.

The car gradually drove to a downtown area and Ling Lan saw a lot of similar cars driving around.  She originally thought that the height that cars flew at would be the same, but that was not the case.  On the same path, she could see four cars at different heights and directions moving forward at the same time.

Ling Lan felt very surprised, she didn’t know how these cars automatically adjust height.  Were they not afraid of accidental crashes occurring?

Soon Ling 07’s voice answered Ling Lan’s doubts:  Discovered a hover car along the same line 3 km away.  Signal to adjust has already been issued…

It seemed that these cars had a main program in it.  Of course, there also had to be a certain level of intelligence that could notice a problem and prevent the event of a collision.

The following words showed that the two had achieved a unified agreement: “Dropped down by one meter!  In three seconds, please pay attention.”

Sure enough, in three seconds, their hover car decreased in altitude by one meter, while the opposite one increased by one.  Thus the two cars, one up and one down, passed by each other.  As for the distance between them…

Alright, Ling Lan’s heart did a sudden jump.  Ya de, that was way too close, wasn’t that just a ten centimeter difference?

However, upon seeing that her mother and steward Ling Qin didn’t panic nor lose calm, Ling Lan understood that this distance was quite normal here.  She still had to practice.

TL’s Note: Ai…Ling Lan’s still a 7 month old baby, so don’t expect the male lead to show up any time soon.

Ling Lan quietly gulped, pretending to be calm as she asked: “Are you the one who’s supposed to teach me body techniques?”  Ling Lan was very interested in this.  In the past world, she spent her entire life lying in bed.  Now that she was healthy, she wanted to learn a bit and not waste this good body.

With an expressionless face, that person spoke: “No, I only came to introduce the types of body techniques you can choose.”

Upon hearing this, Ling Lan let go of the breath she was holding, but also felt a bit disappointed.  Although the other person gave the feeling of a suppressing mountain to the point of giving her breathing difficulties, this also meant the person was very strong.  If he could be her teacher, she would definitely benefit quickly.

The man did not care about Ling Lan’s disrupted heart, introducing himself:  “You can call me Number One.”

No. 1?  This is a number, right?  Could it be that in the learning space, all mentors have no names, only code?  Was it because it wasn’t necessary?  Or was there a reason?

No. 1 continued: “Here, I will first introduce to you the content and choices pertaining to the advanced body technique systems.  There are a total of three series: attack system, balance system, and defense system.”

Ling Lan listened very carefully.  The importance of this could be related to her future life, she could not neglect it.

“Attack system, as the name suggests, are basic body techniques utilizing force.  Balance system, utilizes both offensive and defensive basic body techniques.  Defense system, focuses on defense.  Each contractor can choose the one they want to practice amongst them.” No. 1 seemed somewhat satisfied with Ling Lan’s serious attitude.  He added: “These three basic body techniques cannot be be practiced at the same time, otherwise it will bring great harm to the body.”

Ling Lan was startled; just then, she did indeed have this greedy idea.  She didn’t think that her small mindedness would be seen through by No. 1 and he actually spoke up to warn her.  Gratefully, she spoke: “Thank you, mentor No. 1!”

Although No. 1 had certainly said that he wasn’t the one who would be teaching her physical techniques, Ling Lan felt that he was strong enough to be anyone’s mentor.  Calling him ‘mentor’ was her sincere feelings.

No. 1 seemed a little caught off guard by Ling Lan’s choice to call him ‘mentor’, but it was quickly concealed.  His voice was still the same cold: “What kind of body technique will you now choose?”

Ling Lan seriously considered for a moment.  Amongst these three systems, Ling Lan was very inclined towards the balance system of both offensive and defensive body techniques.  It indicated that the system had no obvious weaknesses, while the other two had obvious advantages and disadvantages.  Ling Lan did not want to become a master, she just wanted to keep fit.  However, just as she was about to answer, a lightbulb went on in her mind.  She changed the words in her mouth and asked: “Mentor No. 1, I would like to hear your advice.  What body techniques am I suited to learn?”

No. 1’s gaze was like sharp knives flying over.  Ling Lan’s face exposed an indifferent smile, as if unable to feel No. 1’s anger.

The two of them were locked in a staring contest, the force around No. 1 getting stronger and stronger.  On the surface, Ling Lan was calm; however, her bones had started to tremble inside.  She desperately cheered herself on, encouraging herself to continue for just a little longer.

Finally, Ling Lan managed to endure until No. 1 withdrew his gaze that could kill people.  She saw an extremely faint smile pass quickly across No. 1’s face and felt her heart calm down.  Ling Lan knew she chose the right path.

No. 1 really gave her his advice:  “I suggest you choose defense system!”

In truth, the reason for No. 1’s appearance wasn’t simply just to explain the different body technique systems to the contractor.  He was actually an examiner.  From the very first sentence after his appearance, he had been misleading the contractor and giving them a false impression.  That is, to make the contractor to think that the body technique systems had to be chosen by the contractor themselves.

Of course, after the contractor finished choosing on their own, No. 1 would give them his choice on which basic techniques they should learn.  However, this presented another problem – that is, is the contractor’s choice in body techniques really suitable for themselves?

The creation of the Learning System was originally meant to cultivate absolutely excellent talents.  Although this based-on-huge-fortune style situation could create a few geniuses, it didn’t match the original intent of the Learning System.

Then the only way to explain this was; this was another test.  It was meant to test the contractor’s insight and thinking ability.  In truth, smarter people should realize that if it was just to introduce basic body techniques, was there really a need for such a strong teacher to appear?  This was obviously not logical.

Of course, Ling Lan wasn’t that smart and didn’t notice these small problems.  In truth, she had already been tricked.  However, there was one thing she was very clear on – that was, No. 1 was very strong.  And Ling Lan believed that no one would be more clear in the understanding of the merits of these three body techniques.  Since there was a powerful mentor nearby, wouldn’t not asking for his thoughts be a waste of opportunity?

Thus at the last minute, Ling Lan chose to ask No. 1.  This allowed her, with enough wrongs to make a right, pass another test.  It could only be said, Ling Lan had really good luck.

Since No. 1 gave her his suggestion, Ling Lan certainly wasn’t self-absorbed enough to believe her choice would be better.  She decisively decided to listen to No. 1’s recommendation and chose defense system.

Once Ling Lan stated that she chose to learn the defense system body techniques, she felt the scene in front of her changed once again.  This time, in front of her was no longer No. 1 from before, but a handsome female soldier.  She smiled and spoke: “Hello, for the next period of time, I will be responsible for teaching you.  You may call me No. 9!”

This self-proclaimed No. 9 female soldier’s body looked a bit thin and did not carry the strong aura and rich blood-stench of No. 1.  She appeared to be reserved.  In fact, the phrase “quiet as a child, moving like a rabbit”* suited her very much.

But Ling Lan believed that, if this female soldier raised a hand, she could easily knock down a strong man in a single move.  She respectfully spoke: “Mentor No. 9, please advise me a lot.”

No. 9 didn’t speak much and instead immediately started to teach a few body stretching movements, instructing Ling Lan to copy her.

Ling Lan found that, although these actions appeared simple, they were, in fact, not.  They stretched every part of the human body to the extreme.  These movements were meant to increase the flexibility of the body and appeared to be similar to the popular yoga from countless years ago.  It gave Ling Lan an illusion returning to her past life.

There were a total of nine actions within the set.  After No. 9 had done three consecutive times, she discovered that Ling Lan remembered everything.  She did not give Ling Lan a chance to ask questions before, with a fingertip, sent Ling Lan’s consciousness back to the learning system’s hall.

The hit confused and disoriented Ling Lan.  She squatted down and hugged her head, not moving, as she waited for the dizzy feeling to disappear.  She then discovered that the Xiao Si who had been waiting for her had started panicking.  He anxiously circled around her, worried.

“I’m fine, Xiao Si, I’m just a bit tired.  I have to leave and take a good rest.”  Ling Lan gave an effort to squeeze out a small smile, comforting the anxious Xiao Si.  She felt that her spiritual power consumption was very great and it tired her to the point of sleepiness.

Thus, she immediately bid Xiao Si farewell and returned back to her body, this time really falling asleep.

The asleep Ling Lan didn’t know, the anxious Xiao Si quietly used his power to help Ling Lan’s body circulate Yangshen Qijue, over and over again until the body began to automatically run the cultivation technique.  After that, he withdrew his power.

Done with this, Xiao Si’s image in the study space dimmed greatly…

Chapter 11: Learning System Open!

Previous Chapter | Next Chapter

That day afternoon at Doha Star, within the headquarters of the Federation’s First Army Logistics Department.  A young officer was reporting the emergency situation that was sent in today to the Section Chief of Logistics.

“Section Chief, I’ve already determined that there are no issues with the military doctor Mu’s report.  That and the accompanying six ace pilot escorts have no deviations.”  The young officer flipped through the information in his hands, clearly and respectfully reporting the situation to the higher up.

Sitting behind the office desk and going through the information was a middle-aged army general.  He listened and nodded, before finally asking:  “Are there a lot of people who know of this matter?”

The young officer was surprised.  It seemed he did not expect the general to ask this question and quickly replied:  “Section Chief, I was personally responsible for this investigation.  Other than me and my assistant, as well as the investigated parties, no one else in the military knows the details.”

“That’s good, you will change the security of the information on Major General Ling Xiao’s heir to S-class.  Officers without the proper security clearance are not allowed to access.  In addition, issue a gag order on people who know of this situation.  As for the follow up distribution of the inheritance, the same people as today will be responsible.”

“Yes, Section Chief!”  Upon understanding, the young officer left the office room.

In the empty Section Chief room, the middle aged man whispered:  “Ling Xiao, I can only do this much for your child.  I hope he didn’t catch the attention of others in the military.”

Ling Lan was lucky.  While she was still unaware of her situation, she was given someone’s careful protection.  It allowed her to escape a future of military control and the path of becoming a war machine – giving her precious time to grow.

Although, Ling Lan currently had no interest in pondering what the military might want to do with her.  Certainly she was worried that her excessive absorption of medicine might cause the military to pay attention to her.  However, after many days it was still calm as usual and thus Ling Lan lost interest, going off to do what she was supposed to be doing.

She was originally an optimistic girl; otherwise it wouldn’t have been possible for her to survive twenty-four years of inhuman torture in her past life with her mind intact.

Of course, for Ling Lan’s thoughts to completely let go of the military trouble was also due to the good news occupying it.

Early in the morning, Xiao Si both excitedly and cautiously told her that she was qualified to enter the consciousness space to learn.

In Xiao Si’s consciousness space, a spacious circular hall had become Ling Lan’s point of entry.  It was surrounded by a circle of closed doors.  In the past, Ling Lan had tried to push open the doors, but, unfortunately, every door was tightly sealed.  Ling Lan had exhausted all her ideas, yet the doors still did not open.

After he was done laughing at her, Xiao Si finally told her; until she met the learning conditions, these doors would not unlock.  As for what the conditions were, Xiao Si’s mouth was tight and refused to disclose even a little bit information to her.

Nevertheless, Ling Lan had vaguely speculated that the conditions were likely related to her physical quality.  This was due to Xiao Si, who had more than once reminded her continue cultivating in order to completely solve the hidden dangers in her body.

Knowing she was out of luck, Ling Lan suppressed her deep curiosity.  She wholeheartedly continued practicing the previous life learned Yangshen Qijue to resolve her body’s hidden dangers as well as fulfil the conditions to study whatever that was in Xiao Si’s learning system.

In truth, the biggest reason why Ling Lan was so urgent, was because she was bored.  Every day on the bed all she did was eat and sleep, sleep and eat, and play by herself.  This kind of rice worm life was really difficult to endure.  In her past life, even if she could only lie in bed and couldn’t move, she could still at least surf the internet and learn about current news, or read a web novel to pass time…

Of course, there was another reason why Ling Lan was so frustrated.  Her mother was afraid that her secret would leak, so she did not take her out to feel the breeze or go see entertainment or something.  To be honest, it was pretty pitiful.  Ling Lan’s stay in this world was approaching seven months, yet she only had these three places – the room, hall, and balcony – to wander around.  She didn’t have a chance to go outside and have a good look at what kind of place the world had become.

Ling Lan felt that she was just about to go crazy when Xiao Si suddenly came and told her the good news.  This made her ridiculously happy.

So today’s Ling Lan was very well behaved.  After drinking milk, she didn’t clamor at her mother to walk her in a circle and soon fell asleep (in truth, she went into Xiao Si’s consciousness space).

Ling Lan once again entered the lobby of the consciousness space and found that, compared to last time, the space had a slight change.  But even with this little bit, it was enough for her to be pleasantly surprised.

The originally tightly sealed door was exuding a dazzling red light.  On the door’s surface was two large Chinese characters: Body Technique1!

Xiao Si stood at the side, explaining: “I’ve updated the language system.  It now uses your current language, so now you shouldn’t have trouble understanding all the text and spoken word used here.”

Ling Lan was extremely happy.  She pulled over Xiao Si and gave him a big kiss on the cheek to express her gratitude.

Xiao Si’s little face suddenly flushed, his voice arrogant as he said: “Don’t try to use sugar coated tactics to bribe me!  I, Xiao Si’s, firmly retain my position, in relation to the standards I will never waver…2

Xiao Si ah, when you say this, can your small butt not twist so much, can your small mouth not grin even wider…you’re not even the slightest convincing.

Of course, Ling Lan didn’t notice Xiao Si’s abnormalities.  Her entire attention was focused on the Body Technique door.  She slowly walked up and gave a push.  The door opened.

Ling Lan didn’t hesitate, immediately entering.  The door she had opened suddenly closed.

Ling Lan felt the world around her turn dark.  This sudden situation surprised Ling Lan and she shouted: “Xiao Si, where are you?”

The dark space did not resound with Xiao Si’s voice – it was quiet.  Dark and silent, this strange scene caused Ling Lan’s heart to bounce with a constant thump-thump.  Nevertheless, she suppressed her nervousness and stood still, patiently waiting.  She believed that the cute and clever Xiao Si would not hurt her.

Ling Lan didn’t know how long she had waited.  Perhaps in the silent dark, the sensation of waiting felt longer.  However, this completely sealing dark made her remember her time as a fetus and her originally violently beating heart slowed back down to normal.  She closed her eyes and carefully recalled the feeling of the time she was inside her mother’s body.  A quiet peace of mind followed, slowly clearing away the sense of anxiety.  Her entire body entered a half awake, half asleep state in the middle of chaos…

After an unknown period of time, Ling Lan suddenly felt the dark world around her turn bright.  This new light caused Ling Lan to slightly squint her eyes, her body slowly recovering from the state of chaos.

Ling Lan felt her eyes return back to normal and found herself standing in the middle of an open square.  The surrounding space felt like the size of a football field – no, even larger.  It great and empty space made Ling Lan feel very small

Suddenly, a somewhat mechanical voice resounded from behind Ling Lan:  “Mental assessment result: SSS-class, permitted to learn the highest level of body technique training.”

It turned out that the situation from before was a test.  It was scoring Ling Lan’s performance.  If Ling Lan performanced too badly, the system would have expelled her, waiting for the next opportunity.  If she performed well, the system would use her score to choose the level of body techniques she could learn.

Of course, if Ling Lan’s performance was really bad, the system would eventually open to let her learn the lowest level of body techniques; however, it would be delayed greatly.  In truth, the sooner the contractor could study, the more favorable it was to their growth.  This was also why the Mengdola galaxy chose to let newborn infants bind with a learning machine.

Nevertheless, the child’s final achievements were dependent on their own body conditions.  Those with genius talent who performed excellently only need to complete the course given to them by the system to become even greater, while those with mediocre talent would only continue to lag behind…For those who learn too late, the difference between levels could never be made up, no matter how hard they tried.

It can only be said, Ling Lan’s two lives of experience allowed her to gain a great advantage.  Her first time taking a mental assessment caused the system to rate her at the highest level – SSS.  However, we must give Ling Lan some tears of sympathy.  Just as the name suggests, the highest level of body technique was not easy to learn…It can be seen that Ling Lan’s future was to be tortured by the system and live a miserable life.

This sudden voice caused Ling Lan to quickly turn and look back.  She saw a uniformed male soldier standing there, looking at her coldly.

Do not ask Ling Lan why she knew he was a soldier, it was a kind of intuition.  Ling Lan felt that he was like an unsheathed blade; just one glance made her breathing difficult.

Chapter 10

Chapter 10: Absorbed Everything!

Previous Chapter | Next Chapter

The military doctor could not be blamed for his lack of calm.  Even the rare double S physique babies could only absorb up to the seventh dose.  When the military came over, in order to express the importance of Major General Ling Xiao’s heir, they took 10 doses with them.  The military thought that no matter how excellent Major General Ling Xiao’s heir was, six doses were more than enough.  However, Ling Lan was an oddity.  Even at the eighth dose there was no slowing of absorption.

The eighth dose was injected by the syringe and still went in smoothly.  Whether or not the body could still continue absorbing medicine, the injector could tell.  When pushed in without obstruction, it meant that the body could still intake medicine.  If there is an obstruction, it meant that the body had reached the degree of saturation.  If there was no possible way to continue injecting, it meant that the body could no longer absorb the medicine.

Upon watching Ling Lan smoothly absorb the eight dose, the military doctor’s originally calm demeanor changed.  With his back to Lan Luofeng and Ling Qin, he sent a look that indicated to the assistant to contact the higher up officer.

Although the military doctor thought they had hidden their actions well, they were unfortunately seen by Ling Lan.  Of course, this was because the doctor didn’t think to guard against Ling Lan.  Imagine, how much could a six month old baby even understand?  Little did he know, this world had such an aberration known as Ling Lan – a baby with adult cognition at birth.

Noticing the doctor’s action, Ling Lan understood that the situation wasn’t good.  Afraid that her absorption of the drugs had been too excessive, Ling Lan quickly asked Xiao Si: “Xiao Si, something doesn’t seem right.  It seems like we absorbed too much of the drugs, how about we stop now?”

Xiao Si, having just received such a great benefit, was not willing to let it go.  He assured: “No problem.  Didn’t they bring ten doses?  If they brought so much, it probably meant they must’ve calculated how much you could absorb…”  Xiao Si thought naturally.

Ling Lan was suspicious: “Really?  What if they just prepared extra?  Perhaps only an evildoer baby could absorb this much.  We’ve just arrived, so being lowkey can’t be wrong.”  Ling Lan wasn’t wrong.  Unfortunately, she didn’t know that even if they withdrew right now, it was too late.

Xiao Si’s heart was unwilling to give up – after all, this medicine was a good thing.  It allowed his host to completely remove her body’s hidden danger.  He thought for a bit and decided it was better to take care of now before considering the future.  With that, he said: “On the tenth dose, I will cover it up and create an illusion of you absorbing to saturation.  That way, even if you were a bit excessive, it will not cause others to suspect anything.  They’ll just pay a little more attention to you while you grow up.  In the future, we’ll just slowly decrease your absorption and gradually dilute the impact of this event.”

Without waiting for Ling Lan to reject his idea, Xiao Si continued: “Just so you know.  By absorbing these ten doses, not only will the effectiveness of your practice increase by several times, it will also completely resolve your body’s hidden dangers.  You won’t have to worry about your spiritual power crushing your flesh.”

“Eh? Didn’t you say that by practicing Yangshen Qijue1, in two years I will completely resolve the hidden dangers?  Could it be you’re still keeping something from me?”  Ling Lan finally understood the meaning behind Xiao Si’s words.

Xiao Si froze.  Realizing that he had leaked information, he could only honestly reply:  “I meant that if your spiritual power no longer increased, in two years you can resolve this risk.  But you have to understand, even if you don’t practice your spiritual power, it will grow with age.”

Ling Lan was angered: “To think you didn’t tell me this.  Do you not understand that this is very dangerous?”

Xiao Si looked up to the sky, his expression innocent: “I didn’t tell you?  Probably there were too many things…”

Ling Lan really wanted to grab this kid and give him a hard beating.  But, unfortunately, she had already agreed to no longer hit him and could only hatefully let him go.  She started to have a suspicion; could it be that the little guy expected something like today to happen, so had her agree ahead of time to not beat him?

She tried to inhale a few breaths with great effort.  When she calmed down, she finally asked: “Can you honestly tell me, in these six months, how much has my spiritual power grown?”  Even if she died, she had to die knowing a little.  Ling Lan didn’t want to be a confused ghost.

“Actually, it only grew just a little bit…”  Xiao Si compared his little fat fingers, representing that it really didn’t improve that much.

“Then by a little bit, do you mean there’s no danger?”  Ling Lan sneered sarcastically, no longer believing in this not-so-much-trust-to-speak-of little kid.

Xiao Si immediately became disheartened.  Embarrassed, he spoke: “If you didn’t have this time’s medicine, two years later you will become seriously ill.  But as long as you continue to practice Yangshen Qijue, I estimate that three years later, you will recover.  Now with this medicine, all your hidden dangers are resolved, so there is no problem.”  Having said that, his face showed a touch of pride.  If was as if he forgot about the horrible situation they’d be in if they didn’t have the medicine.

Upon seeing this, Ling Lan could only helplessly let this little guy off.  Fighting with him would only antagonize herself.  Nevertheless, she still severely warned Xiao Si; later, no matter what kind of situation, he had to clearly tell her everything and was not allowed to say one part and hide another part.

Xiao Si answered clearly – but whether or not he could do it, Ling Lan wasn’t sure.

In fact, Ling Lan felt there was something off about Xiao Si.  Although he claimed to be her contracted growth partner, her learning course could not be opened by her.  That is, if Xiao Si refused to open it, she could not open the course room door.

If it was other people, they would probably worry about this.  Perhaps they would probably also doubt whether or not this learning machine was malicious.  Ling Lan was very open-minded; since she couldn’t learn it, then she wasn’t going to go and forcefully beg for it.  If she was bored, just having someone she could talk and mess around with was always good.

In the end, Ling Lan was not the kind of person who had a top dog mentality.  She just wanted to live safely, freely, painlessly, and without disease.

Soon, the assistant who left to report the situation returned.  He lightly nodded at the military doctor, indicating to continue injecting.

Receiving orders from above, the military doctor no longer worried.  In fact, what made him worry was not jut Ling Lan’s evildoer absorption level, but also towards how to explain to the higher ups on how so much of the drugs were consumed.

Finally, on the tenth dose, the military doctor felt resistance towards the injection grow.  When the syringe only had a few drops of medicine left, he found that he could no longer continue pushing in.

Only then did the military doctor pull out the needle.  He quietly wiped off the sweat on his forehead.  It was good that he managed to finish feeding the baby on the tenth dose, completing their task.  It wasn’t that history didn’t have an infant that could suddenly absorb ten doses of the drug, just rare.

The military didn’t delay for very long and soon bid farewell, leaving behind the enthusiastically hospitable, yet unaware Lan Luofeng and the slightly suspecting Ling Qin.

Ling Lan watched the military personnel leave before finally relaxing.  Then suddenly, she felt her bladder was heavy, as if she was holding back something and was bewildered.  In order to absorb the medicine, her mother did not feed her any milk.  Why did she suddenly have the urge to pee?

As if he felt Ling Lan’s mood, Xiao Si spoke with embarrassment:  “I was afraid to be found out by the military personnel so I didn’t dare to use the sweat glands to excrete.  Thus I sent the impurities there…”

The implied meaning was – with so many impurities there, if she didn’t have urine, then there really would be a problem.

Ling Lan didn’t even get a chance to call her mother for help, when she felt that she once again miserably wet the bed…

“Xiao Si, you’re dead!”  Ling Lan howled!

NND2, with difficulty, she had finally found back a bit of her self esteem and successfully became a cute little baby.  She didn’t expect that right when her beautiful and bright days had just appeared, it was ruined by this self-asserting Xiao Si.

Ling Lan was once again depressed, especially when she heard her own mother slap her PP, laughing that she wet the bed again.  She felt her whole life darken.

Translated by somnious

Yangshen Qijue is the pinyin for the Chinese term of “Body Nourshing Breathing Formula”, the secret formula that Ling Lan brought with her from the previous era.  I’ve decided to use the pinyin because it sounds rather odd and is really long to translate directly.

NND is shorthand for 奶奶的 (nǎinai de), which is like ‘damnit’.  Literally, it just means ‘grandmother’s’.

Chapter 9

Chapter 9: Gene Stimulation Medicine!

Previous Chapter | Next Chapter

Another five months passed by.  The now six month old Ling Lan could finally, like a normal baby, begin to flip around and crawl, evolving into a reptile.  She still felt that her tongue had little difficulty moving under command and could only bounce out small yi-yi-ah-ah noises.  Even so, this was a great and happy surprise for Lan Luofeng.  Compared to other children, Ling Lan’s voice was very clear and she seemed to understand the meaning in her words.

Ling Lan was relieved to the point of tears.  She could finally tell her mother when she needed to use the bathroom.  During the previous period, no matter how patient she was or how much she endured, she could not communicate with her not-on-the-same-wavelength mother.  Wrongly understanding her hints caused her to, after twenty-seven years, once again feel the shame of wetting her bed.

Alright, the variety of embarrassing things that happened in these few months was endless.  Ling Lan never wanted to remember again.  She decided – the memory of this period, she would completely erase.

Today, Ling Lan woke up and felt that the atmosphere was somewhat different.  Steward Ling Qin looked very nervous while her mother helped her put on a loose absolutely-covering-every-angle-that-may-possibly-reveal-her-secret underwear.

Well, if she ignored the two soft round eggs inside, Ling Lan would think that wearing it really was pretty comfortable.

Not long after, a group of strangers wearing military uniforms descended into the Ling house.

Ling Lan glanced at them, surprised.  Although she didn’t know if soldiers that returned from the battlefield would have such an aura, Ling Lan could feel the imposing power hidden under their uniforms.  This was definitely a group of battle hardened and used to blood soldiers.

Ling Lan put on an ignorant face and pretended to play by herself.  However, her ears were stuck up really high.  She was very glad that she reincarnated to a place with Chinese people that, after so many years, still spoke Chinese.  She didn’t have to re-learn the language or writing and could, from birth, obtain necessary information from the words around her.

After the person who came and her mother spoke a few words, Ling Lan finally understood.  They were here to escort Ling Lan’s military inheritance; in the future, it would be sent once every half year.

Ling Lan also from today came to understand what the so-called military inheritance was.  A large part of it was, in fact, a body quality improving gene stimulation medicine.

Gene stimulating agents in the market were circulated in four grades from first grade to fourth grade.  Fourth grade was the worst while first grade was the best.  The difference between these four grades was in purity; fourth grade stimulation agents had a purity of 30%; third grade was 45%; second grade was 60%; and first grade was 75%.  The higher the purity the stimulation agent was, the least harm it did to the body.  It also allowed a person to absorb even greater amounts of medicine and allow them to increase their potential as well as physical quality.

Therefore, with children who could bear more medicine as a child, their future development would be much better.  It allowed them to build an even more solid foundation for the final goal of becoming a god-class pilot.

However, the price of gene stimulation agents were also very shocking.  To explain, a civilian could work hard for their entire life and only scrape up enough to buy a bottle of the lowest grade gene stimulation drug.  And with the highest grade, the price increases exponentially by ten.  As it can be seen, the highest level of gene stimulation agents could only be bought by those who had the means and money.  Ordinary people could only look.

Of course, this did not mean that civilians did not have the opportunity to obtain better resources.  Every baby that is born can go to a public testing center to check the baby’s body, testing for a total of six grades.

Those who tested F-class, would not obtain state subsidies.  D-class babies could receive two bottles of fourth-grade gene stimulant agents per year until they could no longer be absorbed.  C-class could receive two bottles of third grade stimulant agents per year until they could no longer be absorbed.  B-class could receive two bottles of second-grade agents per year until they couldn’t be absorbed.

And an A-class baby had two options; one option was to accept two bottles of first grade agents per year, but still have freedom, while the other was to join the military and accept the military’s cultivation, obtaining an unlimited supply of first grade medicine.  However, the child could only serve the military for life.

S-class babies were directly taken in by the military for cultivation.  Of course, the possibility of this happening was extremely low.  As stated before, civilians rarely had fate defying physical qualities.  Genetics determined everything.

As for those like Ling Lan – successors of military inheritances – obtained the military only special gene stimulation agents.  This medicine had a higher degree of purity than the ones on the market; reaching an efficiency that was infinitely close to 90% degree of purity.  It couldn’t be helped, the genetic drug purification research had reached a predicament.  Although they seem to have achieved a degree close to a true 90% purity, it was impossible to take that step.

This time, the military brought ten full doses of special grade medicine.  Because of the value of these ten drugs, the military also had to send an ace-class mecha to escort.

Soon, Ling Lan was stripped completely, leaving only that piece of small underwear.  A soldier that looked like a military doctor took out an extremely shiny and long syringe from his portable box.  And then he extracted one of the special grade gene stimulating agents.

Ling Lan pretended to ignore what was going on, and could only ignore.  After all, how would a six month old baby know how to be afraid of an unknown object?  At this time, Ling Lan felt fortunate.  Because of all of the treatment in her past life, she was poked with needles daily until she became numb.  Now she could calmly face them without fear.

The syringe was quickly plunged into her arm.  The military doctor’s skill was very good.  Ling Lan only felt like she had been bitten by a mosquito –  little itchy and a little numb before the needle was in her skin.

The military doctor slowly pushed the agent into Ling Lan’s arm, watching her reaction carefully.  Some babies were not suited for the medicine while others may exhibit allergic symptoms.  In short, the first time a baby was given gene stimulant medicine, they had to be extremely careful to avoid accidents.

Ling Lan hadn’t even felt a difference when in her mind, Xiao Si came in uninvited.

“I feel something delicious!  It’s a taste from my memory.  No, wait something isn’t the same…che, what is this garbage?  The impurity affects the taste too much!”  Xiao Si became very upset, as if he felt he had been molested.

Upon hearing Xiao Si’s voice, Ling Lan quickly closed her eyes.  Didn’t they say that eyes were the windows of the soul?  What if, from her eyes, someone found a problem?  She would regret to the death.  Angrily, Ling Lang asked: “Why did you come out?”

Xiao Si felt wronged.  He had thought something good from his memories had appeared, but it turned out to be an imitation.  Sadly, he replied: “I thought it was something good, but didn’t expect a bootleg.  There’s a lot of impurities and if they’re not cleared out of your body, it will be harmful.”

Upon hearing that it would be harmful, she quickly said: “Xiao Si, can you help me get rid of it?”

Asked this, Xiao Si immediately began to show off: “Of course.  Do you not see who I am?  I am Mengdola galaxy’s most intelligent mecha king study machine and can help the contractor with a lot of things; such as the expulsion of physically harmful substances.”

Ling Lan ignored Xiao Si’s boasting and with some confusion asked: “If this thing is harmful to the body, why do people here inject it into babies?”

“This is because this is actually a good thing.  You can enhance your potential and body’s physical quality.  However, the technology here seems to be incapable of achieving 100% purification, so the residual impurities will harm the body.  Even so, the benefits are greater than the detriments.  The problem is, this kind of medicine cannot be absorbed indefinitely due to the accumulation of impurities.  At a certain point the body will completely lose the ability to absorb the drug.”  Xiao Si explained.

Ling Lan relaxed.  As long as there were benefits and was not life-threatening, she could accept it.  Not to mention, Xiao Si promised that he could clean out the impurities.

Soon Ling Lan absorbed the first dose.  The military carried on to inject the second dose.  The third dose…When the military doctor picked up the eighth dose, his forehead broke into sweat and his originally stable hand started twitching a little.

Chapter 8: Comparison Test.

The more Ling Suren thought, the more he felt he was right.  The hesitation in his eyes evaporated and he sneered: “Since my nephew Ling Xiao’s wife has requested such a thing, we, the Ling clan cannot be difficult.  Wherever Ling Lan chooses to go, we will not care.”

“If Ling Lan inherits, the Ling clan must withdraw from Doha within a month.  At that time, Uncle Ren, do not blame me for being ruthless.”  Lan Luofeng raised her eyebrows and looked at the representatives on both sides of the military and government as if to remind Ling Su Ren; the military and government parties were the witnesses, making it impossible for them to go back on their words.

In the face of an aggressive Lan Luofeng, Ling Suren angrily spoke: “If Ling Lan cannot inherit, can I also request you all to leave Doha in a month?”

Lan Luofeng sneered: “The fact that I dare to say it means that I can do it.  Do you mean to say that the Ling clan doesn’t have the resolution and determination of this one woman?  Of course, if you are willing to forfeit the inheritance, then I can let up just this once, and you all may continue to stay in Doha.”

Lan Luofeng’s words gave them a path to retreat, forcing Ling Suren to show all of his cards while not allowing the Ling clan the opportunity to regret their decision.  It was also meant to give the Ling clan an opportunity; if they were less greedy, they could stay in Doha for the remaining two decades and ensure the status of the Ling clan.  Lan Luofeng was sure, in twenty years, if the Ling clan put all their efforts into cultivating a good child, they would still have the opportunity to remain in Doha.

Hearing Lan Luofeng’s words, Ling Suren’s heart went sure enough – Lan Luofeng wanted to struggle one last time.  He no longer had any worry and smiled mockingly: “Since you insist on this, good.  We, the Ling clan, promise you.  Just as you say, if Ling Lan successfully inherits, the Ling clan will immediately withdraw from Doha.  If the child that we have chosen inherits, then Ling Lan must leave Doha.  For the rest of his life, he is not allowed to enter Doha, nor is he allowed to enter the Federation’s military and governmental system.”

If this was the case, then he might as well completely destroy all promise in Ling Lan’s future.  He did not wish to see the fully grown Ling Lan return to take revenge on them many years later.

Hearing this statement, Lan Luofeng’s heart filled with hatred.  A moment ago, she had been softhearted and gave them a chance to retreat.  She did not expect the opposition to be so heartless to as not give her a single chance.  If Ling Lan really was a boy, the Ling clan’s decision would have completely destroyed his future, turning him into a mediocre person.  Her soft heart instantly hardened, her eyes becoming cold: “Good!  As you wish.”

Lan Luofeng directed a servant to prepare a detector, but was stopped by Ling Suren.  He turned to the military representative:  “This time the military should have brought a detector along with them, let us trouble you for it.”

Lan Luofeng didn’t raise any voice to stop it.  She couldn’t say she didn’t have this idea; even if she did, she wasn’t stupid enough to pull tricks in front of the military representatives.

Receiving Ling Suren’s request, the military did not refuse.  After all, they also wanted to get detailed and accurate data.  And when it came to accuracy, how would civilian grade ever beat military grade.

Soon, an advanced and compact detector was carried in by military soldiers.

At this time, while lying in Lan Luofeng’s arms, Ling Lan and Xiao Si were having an emergency discussion.

“Will they be able to detect my biological sex?  And your presence?” Ling Lan was a bit anxious.  If she was found out, she had to leave here with her mother.  Although she didn’t know what the outside world was like, just from listening to Ling Suren and Lan Luofeng’s words, she knew it absolutely couldn’t compare to now.

It wasn’t that Ling Lan was afraid of suffering, but that it was her father’s military inheritance.  Why couldn’t his child inherit, and instead give benefit to who knows which woodwork this other child crawled out of?

Indeed.  Ling Lan, used to concept of inheritance from the earth of countless years ago, could not understand this unreasonable practice.  Thus she didn’t want to give up; Ling Xiao’s inheritance, she will obtain.

Xiao Si’s words held disdain: “They haven’t even succeeded in developing true artificial intelligence, how could they even compare to me?  Relax, even if they could test biological sex, I can still turn you into a male.”

Xiao Si’s arrogant tone made Ling Lan’s heart move: “Xiao Si, are you able to change the test data?”

This little kid became proud: “Of course!  During your first test right after birth, it was me who helped cover it up.  Otherwise your spiritual power would have long cause the detector to explode.”

Explode?  Why did this term make Ling Lan feel ominous?  Before Ling Lan could fully understand, she heard the military representative ask: “Who will test first?”

Tightening her grip on Ling Lan, Lan Luofeng coldly stated: “How about Ling clan’s candidate test first.”

Ling Suren thought that Lan Luofeng still refused to give up, so wanted to delay the results.  He didn’t want to spend more breath fighting with Lan Luofeng and nodded.  He directed the woman next to him to place the child into the detector.

Soon the child’s test results came out:

Diagnosis:

Physical Quality: S Level!

Spiritual Power: First Level!

Potential: S- Level!

Concluding evaluation: Excellent, recommend large effort cultivation.

When the data came out, the military representative’s expression became careful.  If it was this child, he was definitely worthy the military’s full effort to cultivate.  After all, all A+ potential and above children had a certain probability of becoming an ultimate weapon mecha manipulator.  Although the hope was very slim, having hope was greater than no hope at all.

The military representatives’ behavior satisfied Ling Suren.  He knew, the military had no space to refuse this child.  But, the ruthless him did not show delight.  Calmly, he spoke to Lan Luofeng: “Nephew Ling Xiao’s wife, it’s still not too late to withdraw your words.  As long as you give up the inheritance, we, the Ling clan, will make a commitment to give every effort to cultivate Ling Lan until adulthood.”

Going full force to take someone else’s things and then turning around to hypocritically pretend to be the good person? Dream on!

Lan Luofeng only mocked: “No, I just wish that when you leave Doha, you will be quick about it.”

Once she was finished speaking, she went up to the detector and carefully placed Ling Lan inside.

By this time, Ling Lan and Xiao Si had already finished discussing, deciding to maintain the original results.  Originally, Xiao Si had thought the other child’s data was better than Ling Lan’s, so he had a bit of trouble deciding on how to subtly improve Ling Lan’s results.  Now, upon seeing the result, Xiao Si was completely calm.

Thus, in this way, Ling Lan’s originally sealed information was publically announced to the world.

Diagnosis:

Physical Quality: S Level!

Spiritual Power: Second Level!

Potential: S Level!

Concluding evaluation: Excellent, recommend absolute full effort cultivation.

Xiao Si still subtly did some alterations.  The original full effort cultivation turned into absolute full effort cultivation.  He was very proud, this is bound to be much better than the other brat.

In fact, even if Xiao Si didn’t alter the test, he would not have changed the outcome.  When the test results appeared, the military and political representatives immediately decided that Ling Xiao’s military inheritance would go to Ling Lan.

The reason why military and government representatives were able to be so decisive, was because they saw the resulting potential evaluation.  The other qualities were indeed important, but they could be made up after the fact.  Compared to them, potential was determined at birth and directly determined what the future development of a child could reach.  A+ level and S level, may, on the surface, appear to only have a small difference.  However, later in life the difference will be very large.  When becoming ultimate weapon class mecha pilots, the probability of success for S level significantly exceeded A+ level by 5-10%.

Just with this reason, they were worth the military’s full effort to cultivation.

Lan Luofeng finally let out a breath of relief.  Although she had confidence in Ling Lan, without the definite announcement, she was still worried.

At this time, how did Ling Suren not know that he fell into Lan Luofeng’s trap.  The red faced him could not help but want to tear Lan Luofeng into eight pieces.  However, currently Lan Luofeng wasn’t afraid.  The military and government representatives were still at the scene; the Ling clan dare not to do anything.

Coldly, she said: “Ling Suren, I won’t bother to see you out!”  Since they had already split from the Ling clan and tore off their face, Lan Luofeng decided no longer to keep up appearances.

“Hmph, we will leave!”  Seeing how the guests were looking at him with disdain, he knew he could no longer stay.  He took his people and left.

Chapter 7: Breaking Relations?

TL’s note: One more chapter to go!

Feeling Ling Lan’s actions, Lan Luofeng’s originally angry mood calmed slightly.  She knew that the federal government and military had sent representatives and she didn’t want to be impulsive and ruin Ling Lan’s succession ceremony.

Lan Luofeng suppressed her anger and spoke coldly: “Uncle Ren, your meaning is?”

Ling Suren’s eyes hardened, but still revealed his intention: “To choose the most qualified and best, as well as the highest potential child under the age of three in the Ling clan.”

From just born to the age of three was the best training period.  Exceeding this period, the effects of training will decrease with age, the effect becoming worse and worse.

Lan Luofeng spoke with ridicule: “Do you think the other Ling clan’s children will be stronger than Ling Xiao’s child?  Ling Xiao was the pilot of a god-level mecha.”  In the Federation, genetics determined almost everything.  Very few civilian status children were immediately born with fate defying bodies.  Rather, it required generation after generation of careful accumulation.

“The Ling clan created a Ling Xiao, it can create another.”  Ling Suren stated matter of factly.  For him to be so emboldened meant that there was already a child in their hands that had a physical quality very close to Ling Xiao’s.  This is why he was willing to pull off his face in order to obtain the military inheritance.  The Ling clan must create another Ling Xiao to be eligible to stay in the Doha Star.

The current Federation, while it certainly claimed on the outside that all humans are equal, does in fact have obvious levels of status.  This was reflected in which level planet you could live on.

The Doha Star was a superplanet and was also the Federation’s capital.  This meant, those who lived on the Doha Star were officials who had power and ability, as well as the military top brass.  It also contained ancient and powerful super clans with longstanding histories.

The Ling clan was originally a small family and could only survive on a three-star planet.  However, due to Ling Xiao’s father, Ling Suzheng, they managed to successfully gain the right to live on planet Doha.

Although, regretfully, he did not become the ultimate weapon of the state – god-class mecha manipulator – Ling Suzheng was an ace-class mecha pilot.  Despite this, his strength managed to reach a degree that was infinitely close to becoming an ultimate weapon1.  On the battlefield, he repeatedly took down enemy ace pilots, gaining military exploits.  Finally, the military awarded him the right to move his clan onto planet Doha, becoming a new war star for the military.

In order to make Ling Suzheng agree to bring the whole Ling clan to Doha, the elders and the current clan master at the time promised that the Ling clan would make Ling Suzheng and his future lineage the direct descendants.  Not only would all of the clan’s resources be utilized to cultivate his descendants, the clan would serve his future lineage.

Ling Suzheng believed, in order to gain a firm foothold in Doha, he needed his clansmen’s support.  Thus he nodded in agreement and allowed the entire family to move to Doha.

Because of this decision, Ling Xiao, and now, Ling Lan, suffered countless troubles; it even gave the entire clan the opportunity to meddle with the military inheritance.  If somehow the late Ling Suzheng knew about this, he would most likely regret his action of releasing wolves amongst sheep.

In the recent decades since the Ling clan entered planet Doha, they tasted numerous benefits and never wanted to return to their previous existence.  They were very clear; if in the next 20 years under the efforts of the government, Ling Xiao’s inheritor could not meet the minimum requirements of the Federation, the Ling clan would lose everything they had now and return to their original state.  That meant that the Ling clan would fall from a high-ranked clan, directly down to a middle-ranked clan – no, perhaps even to a low-ranked clan…This would affect the Ling clan’s resources as well as the entire clan’s children’s future marriage prospects amongst others.  They could never allow for this to happen.

Ling Suren did not give Lan Luofeng a chance to speak and motioned for a woman carrying a one year old child come forward.  He pointed at the child and said: “This is the candidate elected by the Ling clan.  If young master Lan’s body quality exceeds his, then we will have no reason to oppose his inheritance.”

He turned to look at the military representatives: “I believe the military also wants the material that they fully cultivate to be of quality, rather than a waste.”

The military representative only smiled and didn’t speak, hiding their position in the matter.

Ling Suren originally didn’t have any need for the military representatives to support him.  What he wanted was their ambiguous attitude.  His eyes fell upon Lan Luofeng’s body, his eyes flashing with a touch of pride.

Lan Luofeng’s lips revealed a touch of a mocking smile.  It seemed that her decision to seal Ling Lan’s test results tempted a greed in the Ling clan that should never have been tempted.  Fortunately, the steward Ling Qin caught these movements early on and had completed preparations.

“You dare wish to meddle with Ling Xiao’s inheritance?”  Lan Luofeng’s gaze swept over the visitors.  There was no end to those who were here to watch the drama, although there were people who were genuinely worried.  Truthfully, this situation wasn’t bad.  It gave her a chance to see people’s true faces.  “Major General Ling Xiao may have died, but his orphan cannot be slighted by the clan.  I believe the military should have some kind of arrangement.”

The military representative pretended not to understand the meaning of Lan Luofeng’s words.  He laughed: “Ling madame, please be assured.  Even without Major General’s inheritance, the treatment received by Ling Lan will not be any less.  The military will not allow a hero’s orphan to suffer torment.”

Although the words spoken by the representative sounded good on the surface, deep in the bones held the interests of the strongest.  Upon seeing the appearance of a better object, they defaulted to the choice that was more favorable to the military.

Lan Luofeng’s eyes flashed to the government’s representative.  However, that person only smiled and seemed to have decided to stay on the sidelines.

Ling Xiao, ah.  This was the military and government that you were completely loyal to the point of sacrificing your life to protect.  Did you know, in the face of greater benefits, they mercilessly threw away your blood and flesh.  If somehow you knew of this, would you, too, have regretted your decision at that time?

Lan Luofeng could no longer suppress the mockery in her heart, and said: “So this is what the government is, this is what the military is…I finally understand.”

Perhaps her ridicule was too strong.  The smiles of both the military and government representatives visibly stiffened.

“Since that’s the case, I, Lan Luofeng, wishes the military and the government to give me a promise.  My child, Ling Lan, whether or not he inherits his father’s Major General inheritance, he will completely withdraw from the Ling clan and will have no connection with them.”

The military and government representatives gave each other a glance before the military representative finally spoke, asking: “Your meaning is?”

Lan Luofeng sneered:  “If Ling Lan inherits, then the rest of the Ling clan must immediately leave Doha.  Where the came from, they will return to2…If Ling Lan does not inherit, I and Ling Lan will leave Doha.  No matter what’s the result, we will no longer be a part of the Ling clan.”

Lan Luofeng had long wanted to solve the troublesome problem known as the Ling clan.  If she could do it once and for all, it was well worth the painstaking effort to create this situation.

The color of Ling Suren’s face changed to fury: “Lan Luofeng, you’ve gone crazy, haven’t you?!”

“What? Uncle Ren, are you afraid?  Afraid that your candidate can’t beat Ling Lan?” Lan Luofeng smiled brightly as she looked at Ling Suren, gently squeezing Ling Lan’s small pudgy hands.  The strength of a mother must be pointing at now, for Lan Luofeng had never felt so determined.

Ling Suren was speechless.  His original confidence began to waver with some hesitation.  Lan Luofeng’s current demeanor, made him not dare to throw all his chips in.

As if seeing Ling Suren’s hesitation, a nearby Ling clan elder quietly reminded: “Guard against the opponent’s schemes3.”

Hearing this, Ling Suren thought; yes, for Lan Luofeng to say this, it must mean she wanted to risk one last play.  Imagine, if Ling Lan’s physical quality was truly very strong, why would Lan Luofeng wish to seal the results?  In truth, the higher Ling Lan’s physical quality, the better the resources from the inheritance he would receive.  A smart person would never think of sealing the results; in fact, they would do their best to publically announce the results in order to suppress other people’s greed.

1 Aiya~ This sounds pretty vague, no?  It’s mostly because the levels that the author mentions is really vague in the beginning.  The term she uses is actually ‘IN机甲‘ (I’m still clueless about the ‘IN’ part) to encompass the two major ‘ultimate weapon’ levels.  When the author stated that Ling Suzheng was infinitely close to becoming an ultimate weapon, it meant that he was near the point of breaking into Imperial level.

The level/class system for mecha in the series is: Initiate/Novice -> Low -> Medium -> High -> Special -> Ace -> (Ultimate Weapon Zone: Imperial -> God -> ????)

2 从哪里来就到哪里去 (cóng nǎlǐ lái jiù dào nǎlǐ qù):  Where one came from, one must return.  The translation is pretty self explanatory but it kind of doesn’t capture how Lan Luofeng is actually looking down on the rest of the clan.  Generally saying this is actually really rude, but I’m not exactly clear on why.

3 “防对方的空手套白狼” (fáng duìfāng de kōng shǒutào bái láng): Defend against the other person’s empty gloved white wolf.  It’s basically ‘defend against scammers’.
